Historical Version s – view previous versions of standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. Other temperatures may be used upon agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser, in which case S 8. Product analysis tolerances for stainless grades are not presently applicable pending development of these limits.
Those which are ordinarily considered suitable for use with this specication are given below.
ASTM A487 Grade CA6NM-A
Minimum temperature unless range is specied. Referenced Documents purchase separately The documents listed below are referenced within the subject standard but are not provided as part of the standard.
A superscript epsilon e indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. The weldability of the classes in this specication varies from readily weldable to weldable only with adequate precautions, and the weldability of each class should be considered prior to assembly by fusion welding. The intermediate and nal PWHT temperatures shall be the same as the intermediate and x487 tempering temperatures, respectively, as the original heat treatment of the castings.
Users of this standard are expressly advised that determination of the validity of any such patent rights, and the risk of infringement of such rights, are entirely their own responsibility.
The conversion given is based on CA6NM test coupons. General Conditions for Delivery 3.
Preliminary heat treatment atsm to nal heat treatment as well as multiple tempering is permitted. Or if you don’t have an account with us yet, then click here to register.

Please contact us at webmaster matweb. Link to Active This link will always route to the current Active version of the standard. Product analysis tolerance is specified. Other surface discontinuities shall meet the visual acceptance standards specied in the order. Recording-type pyrometers shall be used to control the furnace temperature. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.
This specification covers low-alloy steel and martensitic stainless steels in the normalized and tempered, or quenched and tempered conditions, suitable for pressure-containing parts. Preliminary heat treatment and multiple tempering are permitted. MatWeb is asfm for personal, non-commercial use.

Cast Stainless Steel CA15, ASTM A
Unacceptable visual surface discontinuities shall be removed and their removal veried by visual examination of the resultant cavities. Users should note that hardenability of some of the grades mentioned may restrict the maximum size at which the required mechanical properties are obtained.
The steel shall conform to the required chemical composition for carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, boron, and copper. When methods involving high temperatures are used in the removal and repair of discontinuities, the casting shall be preheated to at least the minimum temperature in Table 4.
